The best way to extend the life of your tires is to make sure that the tire pressure is at the proper pressure. The tire pressure specifications are usually located on the inside of the driver’s door jam or in the glove box. Do not look for the specification on the tire side wall this is the maximum pressure that the tire can be inflated to.
Tires need to be checked cold because air expands when it is hot and contracts when cold. We recommend checking the tire pressure every time that the engine oil is changed or before a long trip. Don’t forget the spare tire, most of the spare tires we check are very low on air.
You can not only improve the life of your tires, but can improve safety and improve gas mileage by having your tires properly inflated.
If you are in question about the amount of air pressure you need in your tires, feel free to drop by the shop and ask us.
